IKEA hub opens its doors for visitors to Totally Logistics show

Visitors to Totally Logistics North are being urged to take advantage of an exciting opportunity to be taken on a tour of one of the largest automated warehouses in Europe to experience at first hand the distribution hub of a major global retailer.

By registering for tickets for this innovative exhibition for key logistics decision makers (go to www.totallylogistics.co.uk/register.html) at Doncaster Racecourse’s exhibition centre on the 28th-29th September 2011, attendees will also get the chance to reserve a tour place to visit IKEA’s huge state-of-the-art distribution centre at nearby West Moor Park.

IKEA’s 1.4 million square foot warehouse is operated by BLG Logistics Group and services all the Sweden company’s UK stores. Tours will take place on both days of the event, leaving by coach from the exhibition centre each morning at 1030, returning in time for lunch. However, places are limited and visitors are being advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

In addition to the chance of an exclusive insight into how IKEA copes with the huge logistical operations involved in getting its goods to market, business managers attending Totally Logistics North will also have an opportunity to try out TIR Training Service’s Driving Simulator, an innovative driver training solution designed for maximising fuel efficiency.

The two-day exhibition gives transport, fulfilment and warehouse professionals from all industry backgrounds a chance to meet the leading providers of cutting-edge logistics solutions, such as BLG and TIR, at one easily accessible event.

There will be a host of logistics experts on hand at the show to provide information and give live demonstrations of the incredible variety of products and services available to boost the efficiency of goods-to-market operations.

Seminars will include Hull University on how businesses can make significant savings, while improving service quality, without resorting to slash and burn tactics, Apprise Consulting presenting the third annual survey by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport on the outsourced logistics market and AGR Inventory on the implications of outsourcing to the Far East.

Also providing fascinating insights into the future of logistics will be renowned organisations like Dialight, Imtech Logistics, Business Computing Projects, Psion, ABP Humber Ports, Invest In Doncaster and Barge Connect, who will demonstrate how water-based freight is becoming increasingly important in the region as fuel and environmental issues inspire a resurgence in the use of the UK’s major rivers, canals and estuaries for transporting goods.

Visitors that pre-register for tickets at www.totallylogistics.co.uk will be able to benefit from a free £5 lunch voucher and a free £20 Doncaster Racing ticket which will be presented on arrival, where there is free parking for 3,000 cars and free entry to the exhibition.
