Independent forklift battery and charger specialist IBCS expands

IBCS, one of the UK’s largest independent specialist forklift battery and charger companies, continues to expand its business with a move to larger premises.

The new site at Hellaby Industrial Estate, Rotherham, which is also the company’s head office, warehouse and service centre, is three times the size of its previous location nearby.

Moving to larger premises will allow IBCS to maintain its excellent service levels during this time of continued expansion.

IBCS, which was established in 1984, has depots in the Midlands, Scotland and the North West. These allow the company to offer customers a local, responsive service, backed up by the central service and warehouse function in Rotherham.

The company’s core business is the sale and service of forklift truck batteries and chargers. The company also holds a fleet of batteries and chargers for hire – popular with customers, particularly in the current climate when cash might be in short supply.

Operating both a rapid response and planned maintenance team of service engineers, along with replacement product sales means that a proportion of the additional space at the new premises will be used to increase warehousing and stock holding capabilities. This will help maintain customer service levels in line with increased levels of business

Continued success at the business has resulted in the creation of several new jobs during the last 12 months and further growth is expected to result in a need for additional staff over the next few months.

As part of IBCS’s commitment to provide customers with experienced and professional service engineers it has a highly developed training programme for all staff. This includes an ongoing investment in apprenticeships.

"Managing Director, Jonathan Jones said: "I am pleased to report that as a group we are continuing to buck the economic trend and expand in line with our plans. This is an exciting time for our business which has resulted in a need to relocate to larger premises more suited to our needs.

He added: "It is credit to all of our employees for their continued hard work and dedication that we have managed to achieve significant growth over the last few years, whilst maintaining our excellent customer service levels."

IBCS provides a rapid response repair service as well as ongoing maintenance programmes covering all aspects of batteries and chargers within the traction and standby power industry.
