The Welwyn Garden City branch of supply chain and procurement specialist Integrated Services has donated 65 litres of paint to help a charity improve communal areas for residents with learning and other disabilities.
Jubilee House Care Trust is a registered Charity located in the heart of Welwyn Garden City and provides care and support for adults and children with learning and other disabilities. The charity can provide residential and supported living services for fifteen adults, enabling them to live independently from their families whilst being supported to manage in the community. A range of 'short breaks' are also provided locally by Jubilee House for adults, children and their families. As part of a makeover of two of the flats, residents were asked to choose the colours they felt would brighten up the communal areas, heating, plumbing and building products supplier Wolseley UK supplied the paint free of charge.
Sharon Ely, registered manager from Jubilee House Care Trust, comments: "As a local charity, which supports children and adults with learning and other disabilities, it is very important to us that we receive support from local businesses. We would like to thank Integrated Services for the kind donation of paint that has enabled us to improve the current environment for those living in some of our residential homes. Residents have been involved in choosing the paint they want used in their communal areas, which is particularly important as we aim to help them develop their own sense of independence."
Integrated Services manages the supply of all building materials to Mears Group, which carries out all of the social housing repairs and maintenance for the properties Jubilee House use through Welwyn Housing Trust. David Dowsett, branch manager for the Integrated Services branch in Welwyn Garden City, explains: "Supporting the local community is an important commitment for each of our integrated services branches across the country. We have helped Jubilee House in the past by donating televisions for a raffle and as well as the paint, we have also arranged for replacement furniture in the flats through a local furniture charity."
Sharon Ely adds: "Jubilee House is very grateful for any support or donations, which could range from voluntary work to financial donations. This support helps us to both improve the surroundings in which we deliver our services and to further develop services to meet the needs of local people with learning disabilities and their families; to help them live their lives, their way.
