Supply chain and procurement specialist Integrated Services has provided its 200th discounted toolkit to trainees as part of an initiative with Procure Plus, a leading social housing procurement consortium based in the north-west.
The scheme, which has been running since 2010, is designed as a practical means of supporting trainees of contractors partnered with Procure Plus by making essential kit more affordable. Offered by Integrated Services to Procure Plus at a discounted price, the toolkits are then presented by Procure Plus to trainees for free.
A range of different toolkits are available, meeting construction, electrical, decorating, plumbing, roofing and fencing requirements.
Procure Plus stipulates with its contractors that for every £1 million invested, two training places are created, offering exciting opportunities for young people looking to gain invaluable training and experience in the construction industry.
Rachel Howarth is one individual to have benefited from the scheme. The 23-year-old is training with Emanuel Whittaker, whose services focus on specific market sectors, primarily public sector housing renewal and refurbishment. The company works with a wide range of social housing registered providers and local authorities across the north-west to deliver their investment programmes.
Rachel says the toolkit has been a vital asset throughout her training. She commented: "I simply could not have afforded to buy the range of equipment that is included within the toolkit at full price, so receiving the toolkit from Procure Plus free of charge has been a huge help. Having received the toolkit in November last year, I have since been able to add to it with more items throughout the duration of my training, which has helped me to progress further. The quality of the hand tools included is also fantastic. It has proved to be a really big help."
Steve Selfe, Sales Manager, Integrated Services added: "We are thrilled with the feedback we have received from people like Rachel. We know starting out isn’t always easy and we wanted to offer a scheme that would make a real difference to trainees, while ensuring our customer Procure Plus receives a consistent level of service due to the high quality of the tools included. Knowing the toolkits have benefitted 200 individuals is a great feeling."
