A pack created by Cepac, the UK’s leading independent corrugated packaging producer, has been recognised in the World Packaging Organisation’s WorldStar Packaging Award 2019.
The limited edition gin and tonic pack for Swedish distiller Hernö, incorporated curved corrugated solution, Arcwise. To qualify for a WorldStar Award, packs must have already received a national award recognised by WPO.
Set up in 1968, this year’s WorldStar awards attracted 319 entries from around the world. At a judging session held in December in Jinan, China, the pack’s eye-catching, unique curved shape and unique corrugated board design was praised highly.
The judges also applauded the environmental benefits of the new Arcwise packaging, which reduced more than 78% of the carbon footprint compared to the distiller’s previous papertube packaging.
Hernö Gin, crowned as the World’s Best Gin & Tonic by IWSC, turned to Cepac to create the stand-out gift pack containing a bottle of its London dry gin and two bottles of premium Fever Tree tonic.
Using the innovative Arcwise corrugated board the technology can feature high quality graphics and maintain its unique shape to create a strong and appealing product that stands out on the shelf.
Cepac holds the exclusive UK rights to the innovative curved corrugated Arcwise range, developed by SCA. Arcwise offers exceptional printing and cutting solutions not possible with conventional packs.
Steve Moss, Group Sales and Marketing Director at Cepac, said: “To see the Hernö pack listed alongside some of the world’s most celebrated and innovative packaging is fantastic. The unique design opportunities made available by Arcwise technology have proven a hit across the FMCG sector, especially how it can significantly reduce carbon footprint for brands with high targets on sustainability.”
Rickard Hägglund, Business operation manager Arcwise said: “Arcwise has great potential to create value in the beverage segment, not only by offering unique design opportunities but also by significantly reducing material weight and carbon foot print. This is highly relevant since brand owners have set high targets on sustainability improvements.”
WorldStar Packaging Awards 2019 winners will be recognised at a ceremony on May 15, 2019, in Prague, Czech Republic, hosted by local WPO member, Obalový Institut Syba.
