Chamberlain previously served as CEO of MessageLabs, the market leader in cloud-based security protection, from February 2006 until its acquisition by Symantec for £400m. Following this acquisition he was appointed Senior Vice President of Symantec Hosted Services and a member of the Symantec Operations Board.
Chamberlain comments, "I feel privileged to be taking on the CEO role at Achilles. The business has made impressive progress under Colin Maund’s management; it is unrivalled in most of its target markets, and is in a strong position in terms of growth and profitability."
He added, "Increasingly, Achilles customers are global enterprises who want to manage supplier information centrally to reduce risk. Whilst traditionally the business has worked in regulated markets, Achilles’ unique ability to deliver global supplier information management solutions means their services are universally applicable. The challenge for me is to help prepare the business for its next period of growth into new markets and new geographies to capitalise on that potential."
Colin Maund will be staying on with the business in the role of Chairman and will be focused on some selected projects.
"Adrian is stepping into this role at a good time" says Colin Maund. "Over the past three years since HgCapital acquired the business, the turnover has increased from just over £20m to a run-rate of £50m. We’re now preparing the business for the next stage of growth. Adrian is well used to running larger organisations and will concentrate on upskilling the business in terms of execution and operations."
Chamberlain added, "I look forward to building on the great foundations Colin has laid down. The business has a culture of innovation which I’m keen to encourage and channel."
The current Chairman Kevin Gaskill will remain on the board as Deputy Chairman.
