This year’s Isuzu World Technical Competition begins today, with the Isuzu Truck UK team making its first ever appearance in the week-long event in Japan, which focuses on the technical skills within the global Isuzu network.
The UK team, comprising of Derek Tansley from DT Trucks in Barking and Ruth James from Beech’s Garages (1983) Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent, flew out from Heathrow last week, along with representatives from Isuzu Truck UK, following an intensive training programme held at ITUK’s head office in Hatfield.
After a couple of days of acclimatisation for all the competition participants, today sees the first of three gruelling days in which competitor teams from Isuzu subsidiaries around the world take part in this prestigious Isuzu event in Japan.
"We wish the UK team all very best of luck on their inaugural attempt to win this global award and, under the direction of Tim Hicks, Training Manager at Isuzu Truck UK, who is out there in Japan with them, we know that they will have a major chance of victory," said Keith Child, Marketing Director at Isuzu Truck UK.
Last year’s Isuzu World Technical Competition involved over 280 technicians from 10 countries, with the Isuzu team from Thailand winning the award for the third consecutive year.
