Two highly-skilled and Isuzu Truck UK trained dealer technicians have been selected to represent the Isuzu Truck UK dealer network in the 2011 Isuzu World Technical Skills Competition being held at Isuzu Motors' Kawasaki-based plant in Japan during December this year.
The two technicians selected for the UK team are Simon Turner from Universal Commercial Vehicles in Reading and Les Algeo from Warrington Vehicle Centre in Warrington. Under the guidance, leadership and coaching skills of Tony Hicks, technical trainer at Isuzu Truck UK, the team will participate in this global skills competition that focuses on the technical skills and knowledge required when working within the Isuzu truck network.
"Last year was the first time that a team representing ITUK competed in this competition and we will use that experience to ensure that we improve on our very credible sixth place finish that we achieved in 2010," said Keith Child, marketing director at Isuzu Truck UK.
The UK team will fly out to Tokyo with a couple of days to spare to carry out last-minute preparations for the competition, which starts on December 6. The team will be spending a week at the ITUK head office in Hatfield, prior to departure, to undergo a programme of further intensive technical training as well as numerous sessions on Japanese culture.
The 2011 Isuzu world technical skills competition will consist of a total of 21 teams from across the globe, predominantly involving Isuzu subsidiaries from the Asian continent. The UK team is the only team representing any of the European countries.
"Once again it's a huge honour for ITUK to be invited to participate in this global event and we are sure that Simon and Les will be perfect ambassadors to represent the UK dealer network during this highly-competitive event in Japan," added Keith Child.
