High performance roller chain manufacturer iwis antriebssysteme GmbH & Co. KG (iwis) has launched a web-based portal to promote innovation in the field of chains. iwis WIP stands for Web-based Innovation Portal and provides customers, suppliers, distributors and employees, as well as individuals – such as researchers, students and trainees – with a platform for innovative ideas, suggestions, requests or questions.
The Innovation Portal aims to provide innovators with a means of direct contact to the appropriate experts and specialized department at iwis without first having to search for the right contact person. Ideas and suggestions for innovative products or processes can be submitted quickly and easily, evaluated by iwis and, if found suitable, included in new product developments. iwis respects any patents and proprietary rights on the submitted ideas.
"One of our key aims is to actively identify trends early on and to take on board new product ideas. To this end we have developed a systematic innovation process, which will help us find clever solutions quickly and efficiently", explains Julian Weiss, engineer at iwis’ design and development department and developer of the Portal, which he also presented at the recent Motek trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany.
