JLT UK, now renamed JLT Mobile Computers, is reporting a significant boost in sales over the last year. Figures show an increase of 50 per cent reflecting the demand for the company's class-leading rugged mobile computers. JLT's tablet PCs and in-vehicle / fixed-mount PCs are used in a wide range of demanding, harsh environments.
"It has been a phenomenal year for JLT Mobile Computers in the UK. Despite the general economic downturn, we are very pleased with the level of interest in our rugged mobile computing products that are deployed in a wide range of groundbreaking end-user applications under extreme conditions. As the companies benefit from our leading technology and word spreads about its successful deployment, we are expecting great things for 2010," said Mark Muslek, MD, JLT Mobile Computers.
Some of the recent applications of JLT devices include integrating touch screen PCs into non-destructive testing equipment used for testing oil and petrochemical storage tanks and installation in mini submarines to run the navigation and autopilot systems, while tablet PCs are providing the mobile computing power for humane bird dispersal solutions that prevent bird-strike to aircraft.
JLT Mobile Computers' goals for 2010 include expanding its network of value-added resellers who are working hand-in-hand with end users in developing applications for extreme environments. This will help companies gain easier access to mobile computing specialist supplying JLT's advanced products.
"Our rugged products present an excellent return on investment for end users. All have been proven fit for purpose in the harshest and environments and withstand extreme physical abuse. Since the early 1990s, JLT has been developing rugged PCs that are used by military, emergency services, field service, construction, logistics, service, transportation, forestry, industrial automation, mining, public safety and other bodies that demand the highest levels of reliability and ruggedness," added Mark Muslek.
The JLT fixed-mount PCs incorporate an aircraft-grade aluminium chassis with a high-tech outer casing that resists chemical attack and provides a waterproof and dust proof seal. All models in the range are subject to strict testing including water-sealing tests up to IP67, humidity, vibration, shock and exceed MIL STD 810F.
