West Yorkshire based general haulier and Pallet Track member JODA Freight has just taken delivery of a further two truck mounted forklifts, bringing the total number of Moffett machines in its fleet to 12.
Bought initially to service an on going contract to move fridges and fridge equipment to and from major supermarkets across the UK, the Moffett machines provide the flexibility JODA needs. Trailers are unloaded/loaded either on site or from kerbside, with fridges being manoeuvred into or from stores with no or only minimum manhandling and without reliance on site based services – speeding turnaround time and efficiency overall.
An unexpected bonus, the Moffett machines have also increased the attractiveness of JODA services to a broader spread of customers – an increasing number of new customers wanting to take advantage of the convenience and swifter turnaround they provide.
The latest additions to JODA's tmf fleet are M4 20.4 models, the latest in the company's range. They are specified with pantograph reach forks that can lift a load of up to 2tonnes at full stretch and a trailer to be fully unloaded from just the one side. Moreover the all wheel plus multi directional drive provides maximum manoeuvrability and for safer movement of long loads.
Wherever possible, new additions to the currently 120 strong JODA trailer fleet, mostly curtainsiders, are specified with a Moffett mounting kit. The traffic office schedules use of the Moffett machines to match demand. This will sometimes include switching the Moffett machines from one trailer to another at a pre-determined remote location.
Speaking of the Moffettt machines, JODA director David Wareing said: 'The Moffett machines have stood the test of time and have certainly proved themselves in our operations, both for the fridge business and in attracting and retaining new customers. Buying more is certainly part of our forward purchasing programme.
'And our drivers like them, too.'
