Keep up to speed with FTA Transport Manager in Belfast

A UK-wide series of seminars aimed at transport managers will be visiting La Mon Hotel and Country Club, Belfast, on Wednesday 10 October. The Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager 2012 seminar series, sponsored by leading tyre manufacturer Goodyear, Blue Tree Systems and map&guide, will give transport managers the information and assistance they need to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing transport scene in Northern Ireland.

The Belfast event includes a keynote address on road safety priorities for the Northern Ireland Assembly by Alex Attwood, Minister of the Environment. Iain Greenway and Gillian McIntyre from the Department of the Environment will be giving the Traffic Regulator’s perspective on O-licensing reform, and James Hutchinson, Head of Enforcement at the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA), will be speaking on O-licensing reform from the enforcer’s perspective.

Andy Mair, FTA’s Head of Engineering, will be giving a vehicle engineering update, and Chris Evans of Volvo will talk about improving fuel efficiency through targeting driver behaviour. The event will also include a talk on safety in logistics by Ian Smith, FTA’s Manager – Ireland Information.
