Kershaw Mechanical Services wins £900,000 contract for Birmingham hospital

A well-known M&E company has won a £900,000 contract for a new department at a hospital in Birmingham.


Kershaw Mechanical Services will design and build the mechanical services for the new outpatients department at the Birmingham Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.


The work, for contractor Shaylor Construction, will include ventilation, air conditioning, water services, installation of medical gases, solar plan and full BMS controls.


Kershaw Mechanical Services, must help the project to achieve the Breeam rating of "excellent".


Breeam (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and describes a building's environmental performance.


Ian Greenstock is the sales director for Kershaw Mechanical Services.


He said: "This is a fantastic project to work on, and we have started work immediately.


"The project has been carefully designed to minimise the environmental impact of the new department.


"We are delighted to be playing our part in this with the design and build of the mechanical services."


Kershaw Mechanical Services is the lead company of the successful Kershaw Group, which employs a total of 183 people.


The group is a major sponsor of Cambridge United and recently announced a record 10th year of sponsorship.


Kershaw Mechanical Services has also sponsored the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues - known as the Kershaw Leagues - for 19 years.


It recently renewed the sponsorship to 21 years, thought to be the longest continuous sponsorship in football.
