Scottish & Newcastle UK, the UK's largest beer and cider business and part of Heineken N.V., has signed a multi-year contract with Kewill plc (LSE:KWL), a leading provider of solutions that simplify global trade and logistics, to fully manage and support its Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) requirements with its trading partner community.
Under the terms of the contract, Kewill will replace Scottish & Newcastle UK's existing EDI infrastructure and provide substantial Professional Services to deploy both Kewill MessageBroker, Kewill's large enterprise Integration as a Service (IaaS) offering and Kewill Xchange, Kewill's B2B managed file transfer service.
The solution, which will be implemented by October 2009, will allow Scottish & Newcastle UK to seamlessly exchange business documents such as orders, invoices and advance shipping notes electronically with suppliers. It will also integrate directly with Scottish & Newcastle UK's existing ERP and Finance systems, providing efficiencies associated with straight-through processing.
Douglas Smith at Scottish & Newcastle UK commented, "By outsourcing our e-commerce activities to Kewill, we will be able to significantly improve our existing EDI service delivery capability and deliver a cost effective and scalable EDI platform. Working with Kewill will also ensure that we are at the forefront of new developments in e-commerce."
Jacquie Boast, Kewill's European Chief Operating Officer added, "This contract will allow Scottish & Newcastle UK to quickly benefit from Kewill's core competence in the area of fully managed business integration and EDI - streamlining the communication of business documents electronically with its trading partners and directly supporting Scottish & Newcastle UK's strategic plans."
