East Yorkshire-based Hodgson Sealants has added a seventh Komatsu forklift truck to its fleet of 10 materials handling machines, operating at its 100,000 sq ft factory in Beverley.
Supplied on a five-year contract by local distributor Windsor Komatsu, the battery powered FB18-2R will be in operation 12 hours a day, transporting finished products around the warehouse and loading and unloading commercial vehicles.
“We have been operating Komatsu forklift trucks for a number of years, and the FB18-2R was selected based on the strength of our relationship with Windsor, coupled with the proven reliability of the Komatsu product range,” explains Kevin Nickolay, Supply Chain Manager at Hodgson Sealants.
“Cost is also an important factor in running any transport or materials handling operation, and in my opinion, this latest Komatsu delivery represented good value for money in comparison with other deals available,” he adds.

The FB18-2R benefits from a 1.8 tonne lifting capacity and a turning radius of just 1,577 mm, making it ideal for operations in busy warehouses. It is also renowned in the industry for its SEM traction motors, which are powered by a state-of-the-art Mosfet controller to provide an ideal balance of smoothness and power, along with minimal noise levels.
