Konecranes UK wins Cairo electricity production company contract

The order is for a 120/20tonne SM Konecrane which will have a 24.6 metre span. It will have KONECRANES DynA Inverter control on all motions + ESR (Extended speed range) on the hoist. The crane will be fully equipped with KONECRANES DynA Invertor variable speed control on all motions and radio controlled with a back-up pendant.

The hoist features KONECRANES ControlPro Monitor where the unit monitors the hoist operation, providing overload detection, brake wear monitoring, and calculates the crane hoist duty allowing 100% planning of maintenance activities to suit the actual duty. The unit also stores and records the number of cycles, overload attempts and temperature trips.

The crane is also fitted with overload protection, thermistors, ultimate limits on each hoist as well as the normal operating limit switches, travel and traverse limit switches, along with girder and trolley platform, festoon cables, floodlights, horn, panel lighting and motor and panel heating.

Due to shipping by sea and probable outdoor storage in Egypt the crane structure is equipped with a C4 paint classification to avoid possible corrosion and deterioration.

Delivery ex works is planned for April 2015

Konecranes UK to supply another crane to Marchwood power station.

Marchwood Power operates a £380million natural gas-fired combined cycle power station on Marchwood Industrial Park, adjacent to the River Test near Southampton. It began generating electricity in December 2009 and the cranes fitted then were also Konecrane models.

Trant Engineering Ltd is contracted to extend the facility and has placed an order with Konecranes UK for a 105tonne SMD crane with a 20tonne auxiliary hoist which will have a special hook block for the turbine rotor shaft. The crane willhave a span of 13.63 metres span and will be fitted with KONECRANES renowned high technology components including KONECRANES DynA Invertor variable speed control on all motions with the added feature of ESR (Extended Speed Range) on the main hoist and KONECRANES REMOX radio control with back up pendant. The hoists feature KONECRANES ControlPro Condition Monitors where the units monitor each hoist operation, provide overload detection, brake wear monitoring and calculate the crane hoist duty allowing 100% planning of maintenance activities to suit the actual crane duty. The unit also stores and records the number of cycles, overload attempts and temperature trips.

The crane will have a girder platform, cross and long travel 2 step magnetic limit switches, true vertical lifting on the hoists, double hoist brakes, disc brakes on all motions, ultimate hoist limit switches, hook safety catches, ramshorn main hook, 24 metres of long travel power supply, three floodlights on the crane bridge, plugs and sockets, panel lighting, motor and panel heating. Test weights are also being supplied by Konecranes UK for final proof load testing and certification.

Delivery is planned for June 2015.
