Kubota has announced the signing of a key deal with South Coast Diesels (SCD) to become sole Engine distributor for Northern Ireland, six months after the Japanese manufacture chose SCD as its sole distributor for the Republic of Ireland (RoI).
As of 1st July, SCD will supply Northern Ireland with Kubota’s full range of oil and water cooled diesel and dual fuel engines, along with delivering full aftersales and spare parts support to Kubota powered end users and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across a range of industry sectors.
The decision to target the whole Irish market through one supplier signals an important move forward for the brand, and one based on a proven business model that Kubota has successfully implemented in other territories, namely Scandinavia.
“A key aspect of the deal was our desire to really enhance the levels of sales and training support in Northern Ireland, which we see as a key area of growth for the company in the coming years,” explains Daniel Grant, Kubota UK’s Business Development Management Manager – Engines.
“The partnership with SCD will allow us to take a more direct approach to what we do in the region and have greater influence over how we target customers in the area. It’s also a more practical business model for us, working with a partner with a proven track record and one which knows our business.”
Founded in 1986, SCD leads the way in the independent engine rebuilding industry, engine sales and aftersales support markets in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The company represents a number of high profile global brands, working with customers across the marine, military, industrial, power generation and construction sectors.
Kubota’s successful six-month relationship with South Coast Diesels in the south has confirmed Kubota’s belief that working with one partner is the best way to increase and future proof its investment in the region, both in terms of its customer care and business development with its OEMs. Strong sales of Kubota’s highly advanced engines in both Northern Ireland and the RoI has given the brand good reason to be confident about future growth and its long term partnership with SCD.
“It’s key for Kubota to partner with brands that share a similar ethos to our own. Training, service excellence and a commitment to product development is at the heart of SCD’s business model, so we see a huge opportunity to improve and build on this, and to shape and influence how Kubota is positioned in the Irish markets.
“We firmly believe that South Coast Diesels is the best partner to help satisfy the needs of the recovering Irish Industrial markets and to provide the levels of consistency and continuity that customers demand.”
