Eclipse Diagnostics

When it comes to truck maintenance, system compatibility is the key to any purchase of diagnostic equipment and the Jaltest system puts comprehensive on-board diagnostic systems coverage of extensive range of vehicles into the hands of every truck mechanic.

Jaltest is set to make its debut on the Eclipse Automotive Technology stand at the CV Show 2011. It is a powerful diagnostic tool, providing deep systems functionality and exceptional vehicle coverage.

Director Richard Parkin says, "These qualities make it the ideal choice for operators of mixed fleets, whether own account, independent haulage or local authority based."

Jaltest looks set to attract the interest of independent CV workshops as well as vehicle recovery specialists which may be called out to rescue a wide range of vehicles at any time.

ECU programming, ABS/EBS brake, suspension and clutch calibration, Euro 5 adblue, diesel fuel injection and service re-set are some of the many systems that can be investigated and tested by following an easy-to-use menu. Eclipse provides full technical support as part of the Jaltest package.

"An extensive database of exploded views, circuit diagrams and technical data is pre-loaded and regularly updated so that investigation, fault location and problem solving can always be determined quickly and easily," Richard adds.

Guest Trucks at CV Show

Guest Trucks, the Midlands-based Iveco dealer, is one of many exhibitors to increase the size of its stand at this year's CV Show.

Rob Spittle, Managing Director of Guest's Truck Operations, says that the Show was successful for the company last year when it had a Daily on display. This year it will show a Stralis tractor unit.

It will also use the Show for the official launch of a campaign designed to demonstrate to customers that Guest is "not just about selling trucks but also about servicing them afterwards".

Rob is optimistic that the truck market is going to start improving in 2011. Guest announced at the beginning of February 2011 that it has strengthened its network with the addition of four new dealerships trading as Sherwood Truck and Van.

The acquisition adds Iveco sales and service sites in Blackwell, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke-on-Trent.

Town and Country at the NEC

Town and Country Covers Ltd will be back at the CV Show with a range of seat covers for a wide variety of vehicles on display. Over the last five years, Town and Country has grown to become one of the largest suppliers of protective seat covers in Europe, with numerous outlets across the Continent.

In addition to Universal Fit and Tailored-to-Fit covers, Town and Country produces seat covers on an OEM basis for many vehicle manufacturers, nationally and internationally.

UK Sales Manager Steve May says Town and Country Covers has seen particular growth in the sale of covers embroidered or screen printed with corporate logos. "This is an exciting market sector", says Steve, "with many companies recognising the value of brand reinforcement and the strengthening of corporate identity. We have increased our manufacturing capacity and can now offer this as a low cost or no cost option for product runs as low as 200 pieces. We know from past experience that the CV Show always generates a lot of very strong sales leads for this type of business and I'm sure this year will be no different".

Havering College to launch distance learning course

Havering College is a growing and dynamic training provider in the transport and logistics sector, based on the outskirts of East London with excellent links to London and the South East of England.

Apart from delivering bespoke driver training packages to companies like Crossrail, it provides employers and drivers with a full range of training courses in the haulage, warehousing and bus and coach sectors, including driver CPC delivery.

At the Show it is launching a new City and Guilds qualification in International Trade and Logistics Operations. This is designed to meet the needs of those working in international freight and goods delivery, from airports to sea and waterway depots, from rail freight depots to customs officers. By making the delivery of the course distance learning, it will open up the qualification to all and enable individuals to study at times that suit them. Candidates will still have full support from a team of industry professional tutors with the backing of an established educational establishment.

The department is also developing a degree course in intermodal transport that will be launched in 2012. The syllabus has extracted best practice from several European countries, including Turkey and Bulgaria. Full details will be available at the Show.

First time at CV Show for Chaintec

As a first time exhibitor at the CV Show 2011, Chaintec, which has a reputation for supplying the "right chain, first time" for forklifts, is now providing the same service to the tail lift market.

Following customer demand, Chaintec has set up a separate division to specialise in the supply of replacement chain for tail lifts. With its 20 years experience of supplying the forklift market, Chaintec can supply "like-for-like" replacement chain for tail lifts to fit major manufacturers, including Del, Ratcliff Palfinger and Ross and Bonnyman. All Chaintec-supplied chains are manufactured to BS and ISO standards.

Chaintec will also show its ZiCo range of zinc coated chains. These chains are specially designed to deliver improved performance when fitted to forklifts operating in hostile environments. The company claims that fitting ZiCo chains improves service intervals, minimises downtime and ultimately reduces forklift unit costs. In independent trials, chain life was extended by up to five times when ZiCo chains were fitted.

Eminox offers LEZ surgery

Phases 3 and 4 of the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) start on 3 January 2012, less than 12 months away! LEZ phase 3 will extend the range of vehicles affected to include minibuses and trucks from 1.2 tonnes. Phase 4 will set a tougher standard of Euro 4 particulate matter for buses, coaches and trucks over 3.5 tonnes.

Eminox plans to hold an 'LEZ surgery' at the CV Show 2011 for operators who may be affected. Its specialists will be on hand throughout the Show to advise operators on upgrading their vehicles, the cost-effective alternative to replacing vehicles in order to meet the new LEZ requirements.

Eminox offers two Transport for London-approved retrofit systems: the Eminox CRT (Continuously Regenerating Trap) and FBC (Fuel Borne Catalyst). These systems achieve more than 90% particulate matter reduction and offer a cost-effective solution for LEZ compliance, proving popular with operators in the current economic climate.

Eminox officially opened its new London service centre at the beginning of December 2010 to help meet the increasing demand for retrofit emission control systems. The centre is the largest of its kind in the UK and is ideally located for the London LEZ - six miles from Heathrow and just outside the Zone. It has five large fitting bays suitable for all vehicle types, with capacity to install more than 20 systems per day and is one of three UK customer service centres, offering a full fitting and support service with technical support teams fully trained in emissions technologies.

Eminox also provides comprehensive after-sales support. The filters contained in approved emissions systems need to be maintained in order for vehicles to keep their LEZ-approved status. Eminox offers the next generation of filter servicing using the patented Xpurge® cleaning technology and Veritex inspection technology. The technology is far more effective than conventional methods and can deliver 'as new' levels of filter performance with longer service intervals.

Eminox has been designing and manufacturing exhaust and emission control products in the UK for over 30 years and systems are available for Alexander Dennis, Bova, DAF, DAF Bus, Dennis Eagle, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz, Neoplan, Optare, Renault, Scania, Seddon Atkinson, Setra, VDL Bus and Volvo.

Eminox employs over 200 people and has an annual turnover of around £35 million. The company supplies original equipment manufacturers as well as the aftermarket.

Eberspacher

At the CV Show, Eberspacher will present its range of products of vehicles, all equipped with diesel-fuelled independent heating systems, suitable for vehicle applications, air conditioning and climate control systems.

Another feature of the Eberspacher stand will be a vehicle equipped with its unique Frigosoft fridge system, Euroengel insulated containers, the Thermoline diesel heating system for cold climate application and handiwash, the hot water based hand wash system for people on the move.
