Leading transport organisations get together

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK has purchased PTRC Education and Research Services Ltd. which will in future operate as a wholly owned company within the CILT.

PTRC's new relationship with CILT will ensure that it retains its unique identity and will continue to work independently providing its exceptional standard of education, training, administrative and organisational services to customers and the wider transport profession.

CILT's acquisition of PTRC represents a significant investment and demonstrates a strengthening of CILT's commitment to areas of the profession where it has recognised a need for a greater degree of involvement. Transport planning, local authority and infrastructure development all represent areas of transport activity where CILT can bring additional benefits to members, employers and the profession at large. Bringing these two businesses together into one family will enable support services to be shared and enable more resources to be focussed on member benefits, product development and improved professional services.

CILT's Chief Executive Steve Agg says: 'PTRC is an ideal fit with CILT. Both organisations have operated in the same area but developed different strengths. Now as members of the same family we can offer a greater range of higher quality services and devote more resources to the needs of all customers and members whether they be individuals or businesses'.

PTRC design and deliver training courses, seminars, workshops and conferences on a wide variety of transport and related topics. It stages flagship events under its own banner, such as the Transport Practitioners Meeting with the support of the Transport Planning Society and on behalf of a range of clients including The European Transport Conference, on behalf of the Association for European Transport
