Lifting and safety equipment distributor Certex UK, appoints Mark Hoggard as new training manager

Certex UK - one of the nation's leading distributors of lifting and safety equipment - has appointed Mark Hoggard as their new training manager, replacing Adrian Kirkham after his sudden death in October last year, aged only 40.

Mark joins the company as a training specialist, who for many years ran his own freelance consultancy delivering accredited training courses in lifting and crane operations and health and safety, working in locations as far afield as Uganda and Qatar. Mark entered the industry in 2004 after leaving the Armed Forces, first as a crane operator, then later becoming a qualified trainer and tester with Ainscough Training Services.

Mark is a registered trainer and tester with both the Construction Plant Competency Scheme (CPCS) and the CITB (Construction Industry training Board). He is also a qualified NVQ Assessor and registered as a health and safety assessor and surveyor with NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Health and Safety).

The new courses that Mark is adding to Certex's already extensive training portfolio include:

• Mobile Crane Training and Testing

• Slinger Signaller Training and Testing

• Forklift Truck Training and Testing

• Appointed Person Training and Testing

Refresher courses on all the above and Training and Development in Health and Safety are also offered, with practical and theoretical training ranging from 1-5 day courses, depending on content.

Certex is already a recognised industry leader in the instruction of rope inspection, rigging, and industry regulations and has recently won full LEEA accreditation for its courses in Lifting Gear Examination; the LOLER and PUWER Course, and Wire Rope Socketing.

National Product Sales Manager, Pat Carnall, said: 'Everyone at Certex was devastated to lose Adrian, but with dozens of specialised training courses booked in for 2012, we had to seek a replacement and we are delighted to welcome Mark on board. His industry experience has given us the opportunity to extend our training portfolio further still and I am confident that his additional areas of expertise will prove invaluable to many of our customers.'

Certex UK offers bespoke training aimed at specific industry sectors including manufacturing, construction, ports, defence and offshore. Courses are held at the company's training centres in Harworth (Nottinghamshire), Aberdeen, and Erith (London), as well as on customer premises. Each course uses a combination of practical teaching and theory paying close attention to relevant legal requirements at all times.

'I am very proud to have joined Certex,' said Mark. 'The company has an outstanding reputation for delivering relevant and up to date training and I look forward to contributing to this.'
