LINPAC Allibert takes key tank safety message to IWEX 22nd - 24th May, NEC Birmingham

The message that LINPAC Allibert will be taking to this year's IWEX is 'fit - but don't forget'. As Europe's leading manufacturer of thermoplastic liquid storage and distribution products, the company will be showcasing its Helix Liquid Solutions tank services and demonstrating how it can help customers achieve increased service from their storage tanks, as well as meet stringent health and safety requirements.

In addition to discovering more about LINPAC Allibert's complete range of Helix liquid storage solutions, which includes tanks, IBCs, spill control products and accessories, visitors to stand F48, hall 3 will be able to learn more about the company's complete installation and inspection services.

Roger Andrews, Commercial Manager for Helix Liquid Solutions, explains the importance of tank inspection: "Because they don't rust or corrode in an obvious way like steel tanks, many companies have purchased thermoplastic tanks on a 'fit and forget' basis. While it is true that the tanks are very resilient - our tanks can be specified with up to a 25-year design life - this does not mean that they do not require regular inspection and maintenance to ensure that they continue to offer a long and trouble-free working life. In fact, under health and safety legislation, it is a requirement that regular visual inspections take place of plastic tanks, bunds and pipework to protect staff, premises and the environment from damaging and costly leaks."

For companies with Helix thermoplastic tanks installed, LINPAC Allibert can conduct inspection and compliance surveys in accordance with the H&SE guidance note PM86, 'Thermoplastic tank integrity management - advice to users'. Tank inspection services also include the detailed internal examination at the end of design life, a stringent requirement of PM86, which can potentially lead to an extension of a tank's working life by several years. For companies looking to implement their own in-house inspection regimes, LINPAC Allibert also provides the necessary training in methodology and record keeping.

Roger Andrews adds: "We have over 30 years' experience of designing bulk and semi-bulk tanks for a diverse range of applications, ranging from hazardous chemicals to everyday foodstuffs. With the design specifications still available for the majority of tanks we have installed, we have the base information needed for future inspections and so are ideally placed to offer this service across our customer base. This information also enables us to help when it comes to a change of use or duty of our tanks, in which circumstances we can use our tank design data - together with an assessment of a tank's current condition - to advise on suitability."
