Peter Hendy CBE, becomes CILT Vice President. The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport's President, Richard Brown CBE FCILT, CEO of Eurostar, has announced that Peter Hendy CBE FCILT, Commissioner, Transport for London, has been appointed as a Vice President of CILT(UK).
In January 2001, Peter became TfL's Managing Director of Surface Transport and oversaw the revitalisation of London's Buses. In March 2003, his role widened to include the management of the UK's first congestion charge, London's major roads and traffic management, road safety, walking, cycling and the movement of goods.
In July 2005, he was appointed Chair of the Commission for Integrated Transport and Commissioner of Transport for London in February 2006.
Richard Brown says: 'Last month Peter Hendy received the Institute's annual Sir Robert Lawrence Award for an individual who has made a sustained contribution to logistics and transport at our Awards for Excellence, and it is excellent news that he has agreed to become a Vice President of the Institute.'
Peter adds: 'I am honoured to have been asked to take on the position of Vice President. As a member of CILT for many years I am looking forward to ensuring that the Institute remains at the forefront of passenger transport development.'
The news follows the appointment of the widely respected transport consultant Jim Steer FCILT as a Vice President announced last week.
