The European Material Handling Federation (FEM) has welcomed a new president within its Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) Product Group at its next congress on 18th September 2014 in York, UK.
Luisa Parisotto, Engineering Standards and Legislation Manager for Terex AWP EMEAR (Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia) was appointed as the new president of the FEM MEWP Product Group in June and has recently started to coordinate its activities. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding EU legislation and international standards relevant to MEWPs and other lifting equipment.
The mission of the FEM is to represent and defend the technical, economic and political interests of the European manufacturers of material handling, lifting and storage equipment. FEM is divided into seven Product Groups, including the MEWP. Paisotto’s role will be both political and technical. She will represent the interests of the FEM MEWP Product Group with the European Commission, using her 12-years expertise in the industry, proactively advocating on behalf of MEWP manufacturers for the new European legislation to encourage technical progress, safety at work, sustainable development and energy efficiency.
Luisa Parisotto joined Terex AWP in 2002, ensuring conformity of Genie® Telehandlers to the EC Machinery Directive and other applicable legislation. In 2008 her role broadened as she started managing conformity-related issues for the whole Genie® product range in the EMEAR region. In 2009 she started actively advocating for Genie in several European Committees for Standardization, as well as representing Terex AWP in EMEAR in European industry associations, besides her usual internal support to the Sales and Technical Departments in terms of product certification and development. Parisotto is based at the company’s facility in Umbertide, Italy.
“We’re delighted with the appointment of Luisa Parisotto as President of the MEWP group within FEM”, comments Sebastian Umbreit, Senior Director for Operations and Aftermarket for Terex AWP EMEAR. “Luisa will continue the important work that has been done by her predecessor making sure our industry continues to develop and support new and much needed legislation with the aim to set the highest standards for product safety. The latter is a prime focus here at Terex and I’m sure Luisa will wisely guide the FEM with the support of her peers.”
