PYROBAN® the safety and environmental company has been awarded a major contract in Europe to help a global brand in the food and flavours industry manage explosion risks from forklift trucks operating in potentially flammable atmospheres.
A total of 90 fork lift trucks will be converted by Pyroban who will ensure that each one cannot be the source of an ignition when operated within storage and processing areas containing flammable material.
Malcolm Davis, Sales and Marketing Director for Pyroban Ltd explains "This is the largest single explosion proof truck order that Pyroban has been involved in. Many of our customers have fleets exceeding 100 trucks, but they are rarely all ordered at the same time"
Pyroban's award winning System 5000E gas protection has been selected for the trucks used within the warehouse applications because it ensures that the truck operator is continuously aware of the environment. Visual and audible warnings are provided followed by a controlled shutdown before an explosive atmosphere can develop. Other advantages include an automatic gas test ensuring the gas detection system is correctly calibrated and working properly each day for a wide range of hydrocarbons.
For the trucks operating in the manufacturing and processing areas, Pyroban solutions have included the Pyroban Ex-Tec and Dust-tec systems providing passive gas/vapour and powder/dust protection. All converted trucks comply with the EU ATEX 94/9/EC Equipment Directive.
Davis continues "We focus on maintaining the truck's original ergonomics and features, ensuring minimal service requirements for the explosion proof protection. The truck suppliers will be trained and certified to service and repair the Pyroban systems helping to maintain truck uptime. Specifying the Pyroban EX-ASA (Explosion proof Annual Safety Audit) throughout the lifetime of the contract also minimises any risk of the truck's explosion protection being compromised."
