MapMechanics announce shift in focus for TruckStops UK Vehicle Routing and Scheduling System

MapMechanics is pleased to announce a major shift in focus and emphasis for the TruckStops UK Vehicle Routing and Scheduling System. After the acquisition of the North American division of the TruckStops product line by another US firm, MicroAnalytics will be directly focused on the United Kingdom as a primary market for the TruckStops product. The transition of US customers to the acquiring firm will free resources and make it considerably easier for MicroAnalytics and MapMechanics to develop exciting new functionality for the UK logistics market.

Founded in 1983, MicroAnalytics is a pioneer in the development of computerised fleet routing and has been one of the most active software providers in the logistics industry with over 2,800 installations of the TruckStops vehicle routing and scheduling system worldwide. The company also originates and markets OptiSite location planning software.

In the UK, logistics experts MapMechanics, have been the exclusive distributor of MicroAnalystics products for nearly 20 years. Together the two companies have an enviable track record of being responsive to the needs of the UK market. The new arrangement promises even greater attention to the needs and desires of the logistics market in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Examples of recent functionality developed specifically for the needs of the UK market include: collection and delivery, fast routing, and time/distance calculations by type of vehicle and time of day.

Mary Short, Chairman and Business Development Director of MapMechanics, welcomed the change, saying: "UK users are increasingly sophisticated in the way they model journeys and the criteria they need to take into account when planning routes and schedules. Now MicroAnalytics will be able to spend a greater proportion of development time on specific UK developments, making it easier and faster for us to respond to our customers' needs"
