A £400,000 investment in the very latest material handling equipment is reaping dividends at the Stiller Group¹s newly extended, 340,000 sq.ft warehouse and distribution facility in Darton, South Yorkshire.

The logistic specialists have purchased 17 new forklift trucks and other equipment, which include new BT Rolatruc RRE3 reach trucks and P24 pallet trucks, from the SEV Group¹s Material Handling Division, based at nearby Sheffield.

Jimmy Quinn, SEV Group¹s Material Handling Equipment Sales Manager, explained their choice of equipment, ³We¹ve been dealing with the Stiller Group for about five years and have been in discussions with them over the best equipment for the new facility.²

³The brief was equipment that could match the 24/7 working schedule of the facility. From this £7m facility Stillers offer manufacturers and distributors a bespoke service for the storage and distribution of their palletised products. The facility has space for up to 35,000 pallets with up to 7 pallet high racking configuration. We therefore advised the supply of the P24 trucks with double battery operation - operators simply change over the trucks¹ batteries with freshly charged ones, enabling the trucks to work continuously. They are also fitted with the very latest Davis Derby Impact Protection Systems, basically a Œblack box¹ system which records any damage to the trucks.²

³With our Sheffield depot just 20 minutes away, we¹re also able to offer a very speedy response for service and repairs.²

Carl Muir, Stiller Group¹s Operations Manager, added, ³The Stiller group are one of the largest privately owned transport, distribution and warehousing companies in the UK and our high volume warehousing and distribution requires cost-efficient handling solutions. Having dealt with SEV successfully in the past, we approached them to supply a wide range of handling equipment and servicing. We are extremely pleased with the handling solutions and service provided by SEV and look forward to developing the relationship.
