Menzies Distribution and its sister business Menzies Aviation have been rewarded for recent successes after parent company John Menzies was named PLC of The Year in the Scottish Business Awards.
Over the last three years John Menzies PLC’s pre-tax profits have risen by 30 per cent, and underlying earnings per share have increased by 27 per cent.
The two divisions, which both provide high-quality time-critical services in two distinct B2B sectors, attribute their ongoing success to a combination of contract wins, contract renewals, offering an increased number of services, working in new territories, investing in technology and reducing costs.
The two businesses further impressed judges by demonstrating strong levels of customer satisfaction and innovation – each has launched its industry’s first smartphone app.
The award was collected on Friday 21 June by John Menzies Company Secretary John Geddes at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
He said: "We are committed to delivering high quality services to our customers, value to our shareholders, and providing a positive and encouraging workplace for our staff. We are delighted our efforts have been recognised with this award, and we are proud to be placed at the forefront of Scotland’s business community."
Chairman of the awards, Sir Tom Hunter, said: "Congratulations to all of the winners. We’ve committed to building businesses and in doing so through our hard graft are helping build Scotland’s new enlightenment – something I believe we can and we will do."
