Mercedes-Benz dealer Intercounty drives forward in Lincolnshire

Approaching a decade after it opened for business, Mercedes-Benz dealer Intercounty Truck & Van has begun delivering the top-quality back-up on which its success has been built to customers at two new locations.

Intercounty has been operating since its formation in January 2003 from headquarters in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and other full-service outlets in Milton Keynes and Peterborough. It opened an after sales facility at Toddington, near Luton, in 2009, and also operates a string of vehicle maintenance units for high-profile fleet operators at locations nationwide.

Intercounty's achievements were recognised earlier this year, when the manufacturer entrusted it with the Mercedes-Benz franchise for south Lincolnshire. Within four weeks of the decision Intercounty had obtained its premises at Wrightsway, off the Outer Circle Road, Lincoln, and on the Riverside Industrial Estate in Boston, and opened their doors to support customers.

"We've enjoyed a fantastic 10 years that have seen Intercounty Truck & Van establish itself as one of Britain's leading commercial vehicle dealers," affirmed Steve Hunt, who has been at the company helm as Dealer Principal since Day One.

"But we'll never be caught resting on our laurels and are always on the lookout for new opportunities to grow our business. So when the chance arose to extend our area of operation we naturally jumped at it.

"We moved quickly and put together a solid business plan which is now ensuring that customers old and new receive the premium levels of service that Intercounty already provides to some of the UK's most demanding road transport operators."

One such customer is Lincolnshire haulier Benton Brothers. Its fleet of 250 trucks is dominated by Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units and those based at the operator's headquarters in Sibsey are maintained at Intercounty's nearby Boston site.

Managing Director Martin Benton said: "We've quickly developed a strong working relationship with the Intercounty team and are very pleased with their efficient and professional service.

"Staff from the dealership collect our vehicles, take them in for their regular inspections, and return them to us ready for work again. And this all happens at the weekend, thus minimising downtime and ensuring that our vehicles are always ready for work when we need them."

The Boston and Lincoln depots each have fully equipped, six-bay workshops staffed by factory-trained Mercedes-Benz technicians. The Boston facility is open around the clock from 6am Monday until noon on Saturday, while the Lincoln workshop is currently open from 6am-10.30pm on weekdays and 8am-noon on Saturdays. Full, around-the-clock emergency breakdown cover is also available from Mercedes-Benz Service 24h vans at both sites.

Both also have teams of parts staff and service advisors, as well as sales executives specialising in new and used Mercedes-Benz trucks and vans, and the popular Fuso Canter light truck range.

Boston Service Manager Paul Slater said: "Since taking over these sites every member of our teams at both locations has worked extremely hard to bring truck and van operators in the area a level of service that matches the unsurpassed quality of their Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The feedback from local customers has been very positive."
