Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK at the Commercial Vehicle Show, CV Show 2015

Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK is once again proud to be attending the UK Commercial Vehicle Show and in doing so will demonstrate a full range of vehicles from the 3.5 tonne FUSO Canter to the Flagship Actros and everything in-between, including Atego, Antos, Arocs, Econic and Unimog.

On the main stand in Hall 5 we have seven Trucks on display. These include the special Econic 4x2 skip loader that was recently showcased at the London ExCel CLOCS event, a stunning Actros 2563LS GigaSpace, in pearlescent white, a Unimog UGE340, an Antos 1824LS chassis cab, the Actros 2548 StreamSpace Fuel Challenger and a FUSO Canter 3C13.

Externally, in the Mercedes-Benz exhibition area, we have a further 25 vehicles which include a full selection of bodied vehicles from across the entire Trucks range. Included in this is the UK’s first Euro VI Atego Crew-Cab, built at Mercedes-Benz CTT.

Mercedes-Benz North, formerly known as Wentworth Park, are also demonstrating a stunning custom, Approved Used, MP3 Actros 2546 6X2 on the main Stand in Hall 5. In addition to this a further four Approved Used Trucks are on show on the outside exhibition area.

The main stand also prides itself with a vast array of Customer Service solutions. These business valued offerings will be demonstrated on individual product information booths, manned by product and will cover customer requirements for those wishing information on Fleetboard, Customer Service, Mercedes-Benz North and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

Our quest to build safer vehicles has never been stronger and in taking a manufacturing leading role our technologically advanced vehicles demonstrate “Safety - It’s in our DNA”. Safety for Mercedes-Benz began back in 1924 when Daimler designed and manufactured the world’s first vehicle with brakes on all wheels. In 1981, we were first manufacturer to offer ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) on a truck. Then in 1994, we developed the world’s first Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). Regarded as the most important advance in safety since the seatbelt, recognised industry bodies report vehicles with ESP are 25% less likely to be involved in a fatal accident than those without.

In November 2015 General Safety Regulations mandate that all new vehicles above 3.5t GVW must be equipped with a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS). As far back as February 2000, we presented Lane Assist on Actros, with the system now proven for fifteen years in warning drivers when a vehicle starts to cross lane markings. Also mandatory in the regulations is an Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) for trucks over 8t GVW. Mercedes-Benz Trucks, though, have offered Active Brake Assist (ABA) since 2006.

Today our latest version, Active Brake Assist 3, significantly outperforms the 2015 General Safety Regulations, helping to avoid accidents by evaluating what’s ahead and bringing a vehicle to a complete stop. Safety. It’s in our DNA

Fuel Challenger

The topic of overall economic efficiency is given top priority at Mercedes-Benz Trucks. Investment, consumption, maintenance, and repair, as well as the residual value influence your gain. During the complete period of operation of your truck, the fuel costs make up approximately 50-60% of the vehicle-related expenditures.

The new Actros has been the undisputed pioneer in terms of economic efficiency for a range of years. Mercedes-Benz Trucks is continuously developing new, fuel-saving technologies, such as the innovative assistance system Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC), which integrates a topography-adapted driving style into the automatic shifting system.

The new Actros with Euro VI engine helps to significantly reduce the fuel consumption. In many fuel consumption tests, the new Actros has on several occasions demonstrated a saving potential of up to 9% in comparison to competitive vehicles. In combination with the FleetBoard telematics system and a consumption-reduced driving style, up to 15% of fuel savings can be achieved.

Of course, this sounds good in the first place. The most convincing proof, however, is provided in the Fuel Duel in which you can test the new Actros yourself.

In the UK - 54 Fuel Challenger trials have been completed, 47 have been won and we currently have a 6.6 per cent betterment on fuel. Our best winning performance during trial is 22.4% and our Challenger vehicles have covered 242.324 km.
