MGB Plastics wins contract to supply 25,000 wheeled bins to local council

The UK’s leading manufacturer of wheeled bins has won a contract to supply thousands of its products to help householders manage their garden waste and make a significant contribution to the recycling rate in their area.

MGB Plastics will supply 25,000 of its new-shaped 240L bins to Cheltenham Borough Council as part of a new waste collection scheme.

The new product, which will be manufactured in brown, is the central tool in the new kerbside wheeled bin scheme introduced by Cheltenham Council to replace its green bag garden waste service. It hopes the new collection scheme will help it to meet recycling targets of 50% by 2015 and 60% by 2020.

It is the first time MGB Plastics has worked with Cheltenham Council to provide its wheeled bins and services. The first of the bins have already started to arrive at homes in Gloucestershire and will be used to collect garden waste such as grass cuttings, hedge, shrub clippings and small branches.

The contract is the latest to have been won by MGB Plastics recently with local authorities across the UK. A few months earlier it provided over 50,000 new wheelie bins to homeowners across Kent and Hertfordshire.

Conor Sugrue, general manager at MGB Plastics, said the bins will all be manufactured at its factory in Rotherham.

He said: "We are delighted to be working with Cheltenham Borough Council to provide a product which will help them towards meeting their recycling targets.

"As a business, our aim is to work with local councils across the UK to provide effective waste management solutions and this is a good example of this philosophy in practice.

"We will the council gradually and expect to complete the contract over the next month. In addition, all the 25,000 bins we are supplying have been made at our factory in Rotherham as part of our commitment to sustainability and in reducing the carbon footprint."

Operating from a 5,000 sq m modern manufacturing facility on the Barbot Hall Industrial Estate in Rotherham, MGB uses state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that only bins of the highest quality are produced.
