Midlands firm taps into Leicester logistics market

Fradley-based Palletways Birmingham has branched out into a new territory in a move that has been billed as a catalyst for the strategic growth of its UK and European palletised freight distribution services.

For the first time in its 15-year history, Palletways Birmingham is now providing a collection and delivery service in Leicester, adjacent to its traditional operating area which includes Birmingham and Walsall. The firm will handle single pallet loads to large scale consignments and will cover LE11, 12, 55, 65 and 67 postcodes.

Garry Curtis, general manager for Palletways Birmingham, said: “We have been actively looking to expand our proposition for some time and the Leicester postcodes we have secured, along with their proximity to our operating base, are a good fit for this business. Plus, we know there is a thriving logistics market in Leicester for us to tap into, a result of the heavily populated industrial areas across the City, which makes sound commercial sense.

“We are also proud to announce that this strategic move will also generate additional employment opportunities within our existing team.”

Palletways consists of 300 depots across Europe of which over 100 are in the UK. The company’s distribution networks are made up of independent transport companies who share each other’s resources to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before. The Group is now looking to extend its services into Switzerland and six Eastern European countries, as well as completing a new increased capacity distribution hub in Germany.
