Fradley-based Palletways’ Birmingham depot has bolstered its sales team to handle an increase in volumes, just weeks after announcing it has branched out into a new territory.
Stella Spence and Dan Clewer have joined the Palletways Solutions Team focused on arranging full/part loads and Storage solutions at the Birmingham depot – both of which are added-value services offered to customers. They’ll be responsible for coordinating the movement of freight that can’t be transported through the Palletways network, due to exceptional weight for example or specific out of hours solutions and will also handle export sales.
Stella, who lives in Tamworth, brings years of experience to Palletways having previously worked for Road, Sea and Air Freight specialists. Commenting she said: “Palletways is a well-known, respected name in the logistics industry, a real force to be reckoned with and I couldn’t be happier to be on board. While the company is a mature, established business, I want to use every bit of industry knowledge I have to grow the Solution’s team customer base and strengthen the brand.”
Dan, from Sutton Coldfield, added: “This is my first foray in the logistics industry but I’m looking forward to cutting my teeth here and I couldn’t have joined a more knowledgeable firm than Europe’s largest provider of express palletised freight services.”
The duo will report to Palletways field sales manager, Emma Aherne. Emma said: “Our solutions team really do add value to our customer base by providing a one-stop-shop for all of their logistics needs alongside our core network business. This is a particularly exciting time for the depot as we expand our area and capacity we are delighted to be offering storage solutions moving forwards.”
For the first time in its 15-year history, Palletways Birmingham is now providing a collection and delivery service in Leicester, adjacent to its traditional operating area which includes Birmingham and Walsall. The firm will handle single pallet loads to large scale consignments and will cover LE11, 12, 55, 65 and 67 postcodes.
Palletways consists of 400 depots across Europe of which over 100 are in the UK. The company’s distribution networks are made up of independent transport companies who share each other’s resources to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before. The Group has recently extended its services into Poland and the Baltic countries, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and plans to move into Switzerland and a number of other Eastern countries in the near future. In addition, a new increased capacity distribution hub in Germany is also underway.
