Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA), the company administering the Intelligent Access Program (IAP), has announced Minorplanet Asia Pacific Pty Ltd has achieved certification as an IAP Service Provider.
TCA Chief Executive Officer Mr Chris Koniditsiotis congratulated Minorplanet, the vehicle telematics technology specialists, on the achievement.
"It gives me great pleasure to welcome Minorplanet Asia Pacific as an IAP Service Provider.
"Becoming an IAP Service Provider requires applicants to meet the due diligence, probity, financial, functional and technical requirements required by TCA under the certification process and it is an achievement to be proud of," Mr Koniditsiotis said.
Minorplanet Asia Pacific Pty Ltd was founded in Sydney in 2000 and now has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Auckland. It is a 100% owned subsidiary of the UK company Minorplanet Systems PLC, described as a global market leader for vehicle management information, with over 8,000 customers worldwide.
Minorplanet Asia Pacific says from the inception of the IAP initiative it has been an active supporter of the concept, seeing it as an important national initiative to improve road productivity and safety.
The IAP is a program which provides transport operators of heavy vehicles with improved access to Australia's road network in return for GPS monitoring of compliance with specific access conditions. In return, the IAP provides road authorities with greater confidence heavy vehicles are complying with the agreed road access conditions.
Under the IAP, participating heavy vehicles are monitored using telematics services with an in-vehicle unit (IVU). The IVU is supplied and operated by an IAP Service Provider, certified by TCA.
Only IAP Service Providers, identified by the IAP Certification Symbol, can supply IAP services.
Following their announcement as an IAP Service Provider, Minorplanet Asia Pacific joins Transtech Driven, certified in July this year, as being able to provide IAP services to transport operators wanting to participate in the IAP.
