Mitie gritters ready as winter blows in this weekend

As much colder weather and snow are forecast in Scotland and Northern England this weekend, Mitie, the UK’s leading commercial gritting company, is prepared for the elements.

Richard Hughes, general manager of Mitie’s winter services is confident that Mitie teams are ready to battle the elements:

“We’re expecting to have around 400 teams out over the weekend and we’re more than ready for whatever the British weather might throw at us.

We’ve spent months planning and testing our systems to make sure that our customers get the service they have come to expect from us. We’ll be doing everything to keep our customers’ businesses moving and to keep their people safe.”

An online real-time portal allows clients to view detailed gritting reports, plan gritting visits and also view the weather forecast. With ultimate reliability being the key focus of Mitie’s winter services, over 90% of Mitie’s clients repeat their contracts with them.

The last ten years have seen Mitie rise to become the number one commercial gritting company in the UK, conducting over 750,000 gritting visits equating to over 500,000 man hours. Using the Met Office’s OpenSite forecast, Mitie is able to accurately predict when a client’s site will need gritting and alert the client via SMS or email.
