Rugged computing specialist Mobexx now offers a breakthrough Swedish designed and built multipurpose in-cab computer. The JLT jFlex is fully rugged and doubles as both a fixed-mount 8.4-inch touchscreen PC (SVGA daylight viewable) for in-vehicle applications and as a tablet PC for jobs that require the operator to get out of the vehicle to record data. This provides a cost-effective solution that eliminates the need for multiple mobile devices. It also enables the computer to be moved from vehicle to vehicle, quickly and easily reducing the need to fit each vehicle with a dedicated computer.
The computer is easier to service and update than traditional fixed in-cab computers as it can be removed and replaced in seconds thanks to its clever design. There is also the flexibility to use the computer outside the vehicle, which reduces the number of mobile devices needed for such jobs as signature capture, vehicle inspections and in some warehouse applications where a forklift operator may need to access certain areas on foot to reach stock but still needs to use a computer.
The computer is designed to outperform handhelds and lesser tablet PCs in vibration-prone environments and is easy to move between different vehicles and locations by removing it from its quick-action docking mount. Removing the computer from the vehicle when not in use also improves security and users can personalize it, which reduces damage and abuse by the operator.
Like other computers in the JLT range, the jFlex provides high performance and durability. The computer is built and tested to IP65, operates in temperatures from -30 C to + 55 C degrees C and is resistant to vibration beyond the recommended limits for trucks and warehouse trucks. It has an Intel Atom 1.6 GHz processor and supports various types of operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows XP and Linux.
To enhance the device’s portability a range of accessories are available, including different mounting solutions, electrical adaptors, rugged keyboards and GPS and 3G modem modules.
"The jFlex is a good alternative to needing another handheld computer with additional peripherals for quick out of vehicle tasks, such as signature capture for proof of delivery, recording vehicle defects or for additional portability in the warehouse. JLT computers are proven to be reliable and with the jFlex users get the the computing power and mobile functionality they need in a single integrated unit," says Mark Dale-Lace, Director, Mobexx.
