Following the initial success of the first deckRailXtra® scissor lifts, Southern Cranes and Access Ltd have now taken
delivery of a further 15 Genie GS1932s all fitted with Aerial and Handling Services' unique deckRailXtra system, a new
materials handling attachment for scissor lifts.
The system comprises of cleverly designed floor stiffening saddles and new load bearing outer deckrails (replacing the
original deckrails) onto which the jaw brackets can be attached at different locations. Once installed on the Genie
GS1932 the system can be used on either side simultaneously or on one side only. Each jaw bracket has a simple, yet
highly effective, lashing strap that can either gather and bundle loose materials and tubing, or restrain larger single
items such as ducting etc. With a SWL of 130kgs per deckrail, and the whole assembly adding only 14kgs to the overall
weight of the scissor lift, deckRail Xtra's unique, integrated design leaves an impressive 213kg available for the operator
and any materials to be carried.
The system has been in use already on Genie GS1932s on the BAM Nuttall project at the Atomic Weapons Establishment
(AWE) in Berkshire. They have been so successful that BAM Nuttall have now increased the number of scissor lifts
installed with deckRailXtra.
Aerial and Handling Services Ltd received the refurbished Genie GS1932s last week and quickly fitted the new deckrails
in place for each of the machines and delivered them to Southern Cranes and Access ready for onward delivery to BAM
Nuttall. The picture shows the truck loaded up with the new machines ready to be delivered.
We are delighted that Southern Cranes and Access have opted for our system, the endorsement from BAM
Nuttall is a significant testament that the product once coupled to the Genie GS1932 is a winning formula. - Ian
