MOSCA machine delivers increase in productivity

The excellent reliability of a recently installed Mosca strapping machine at the Portsmouth facility of leading pharmaceutical wholesaler Phoenix Healthcare Distribution is enabling the company to achieve a high level of productivity, strapping around 3,300 tote boxes containing pharmaceuticals each day.

The Mosca ROTRP SoniXs is a fully automatic strapping machine featuring Mosca’s market-leading ultrasonic sealing system 4101. Key features include electronic self-calibration and strap end detection with ejection of remaining strap. The fully flexible machine can be integrated into most production lines.

Phoenix Healthcare Distribution is part of the Phoenix group, a leading European pharmaceutical trader headquartered in Mannheim Germany. Working in partnership with healthcare professionals, Phoenix UK covers many market segments of the healthcare system – pharmacy, GPs and hospitals – and in each sector strives to provide the highest quality service and back-up support required by their customers.

The ROTRP SoniXs is one of several Mosca machines installed at the company’s various UK locations, all of which are helping Phoenix to maintain these high standards thanks to their reliability, quality and service support.

"Since using Mosca machines, we have seen a high reduction in breakdowns and machine faults during production," explains Dale Ashcroft of Phoenix. "This is vital to our business as it means we can meet our high volume productivity targets, which in turn keeps our customers happy."

Mosca strapping machines are used in practically all industries. The company’s product portfolio ranges from semi-automatic machines to fully automated high-speed systems. Mosca also manufactures conveyor systems and produces plastic straps.

Mosca automated strapping machines are based on a modular design and fit easily into existing lines or as part of a new project. They are top of the range German designed and manufactured and are available in the UK from the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Mosca Direct of Cotgrave, Nottingham
