Multilift and HIAB help versatile Verdant

The pressures placed on local authorities to provide modern, efficient recycling facilities have led fast-growing municipal services contractor Verdant Group plc to new efficiency levels in this specialised sector, with a little help from HIAB and Multilift.

A combination of the powerful capabilities of the HIAB lorry loader crane and the Multilift demountable on a single vehicle has dramatically improved delivery and collection schedules.

The Verdant Group, which provides a wide range of waste collection and recycling services for local authorities in England and Wales, required a materials handling system which delivered exceptional versatility that would maximise utilisation of all its available vehicles.

Verdant's service quality standards mean that fulfilling tight deadlines and demanding schedules in delivering to and from a diverse range of public amenity sites is critical.

Hiab's world-class lorry loader crane system and Multilift demountables, both fully operational and installed on one vehicle, offered total flexibility and allow Verdant to meet its demanding objectives. Verdant can now supply a faster, more efficient service, minimising 'wait' times and reducing 'return empty' trips.

Roger Edwards, development director for Verdant, said: "Our success in winning new public sector waste collection and recycling contracts is based on high service standards, flexibility in planning and delivering those standards, and an understanding of how local authorities and local communities can achieve their goals.

"Hiab has come up with a clever solution that helps Verdant meet its operational objectives and, importantly, helps instill public confidence in helping minimise waste and improve recycling."
