Murata Machinery Ltd (Muratec) of Kyoto, Japan, acquired all of the issued stock of Cimcorp Oy of Ulvila, Finland, from the existing shareholders on 30 October, making Cimcorp and its subsidiaries members of the Muratec Group.
Both Muratec and Cimcorp are leading companies in their respective business fields in the global material handling industry. Muratec is ranked as having the fourth highest annual sales in the world amongst solution providers for material handling systems, while Cimcorp is the top supplier for intralogistics automation in the tyre industry, as well as having unique solutions for a variety of retail and distribution applications.
Muratec and Cimcorp will continue their businesses as independent companies as they have done until now, offering customers the systems for which they are already renowned. The acquisition means, however, that the two companies will also be able to provide clients with solutions that offer the full advantage of the systems of both Muratec and Cimcorp, making the Muratec-Cimcorp Group a truly one-stop-shop for material handling automation.
"Muratec and Cimcorp have complementary solutions and capabilities that will help us to strengthen our market position," stated Martti Artama, President of Cimcorp Oy. "The acquisition combines Cimcorp's experience and competence in robotic solutions with Muratec's warehouse automation technology."
Co-operation will begin immediately, with both companies taking advantage of the possibilities to enhance service coverage by utilizing the global networks that Muratec and Cimcorp have established, aiming to provide best-in-class service performance for customers. "For the future," continued Martti Artama, "we aim to introduce new innovations for various manufacturing and distribution industries by integrating the experience and know-how that both Muratec and Cimcorp have developed. We are convinced that we can realise very compelling solutions with high returns on customers' investments."
