Marlow, UK – 04 June 2008 – NetDespatch has chosen the Mail and Express Delivery Show (Novotel London West 1-2 July 2008) for the first public showing of PODXchange, the industry's only Proof of Delivery portal. Developed over the last two years in association with a number of major parcel networks and their agents, the innovative online data exchange from NetDespatch is proving a big success with its first adopters.
PODXchange is already capturing scans, delivery information and signatures from agents' mobile handheld terminals for transformation into the correct
formats for transmission to Amtrak, APC, City Link, DHL, Geopost, UK Mail and other major parcel networks. It provides instant access for all of them to a
central repository of parcel tracking information.
In Version 2 of PODXchange, NetDespatch is further extending the service to provide a resilient hosted web tracking solution for major parcel networks and other users of mobile hand held terminals, as well as receipt and storage of consolidated multi-carrier tracking for major retailers and manufacturers.
PODXchange offers a service throughout the supply chain; it can be used by shippers who use multiple carriers to see all their PODs on one web server, couriers who deliver for multiple parcel networks to send data from a single set of hand held terminals, and for parcel delivery or distribution companies who require a complete hosted solution or an easy method to get PODs and
signatures from their subcontractors.
Any GPRS enabled device can be used to capture PODs and transmit them to PODXchange. This allows couriers to utilise their own choice of GPRS-enabled PDAs for signature capture and communication. All data received can be transformed into the correctly encoded data format, such as EDI, XML or csv, for onward transmission to any specified destination - whether the server of a parcel delivery network or a major manufacturer or retailer. In addition any
authorised user can use a simple web interface to access up-to-the-minute status information for any parcel.
"NetDespatch has attracted the attention of a number of major companies with PODXchange and is already working with UK Mail, Geopost, City Link and others. PODXchange simplifies tracking processes for shippers, couriers, 3PLs and carriers by hosting all the information in one place. This makes it instantly available to anyone who needs to interrogate it to find the status of parcels wherever they may be. In addition, we see this as a revolutionary product that also provides major benefits to shippers who want to maintain their PODs in a single repository, regardless of how many carriers they may use," says Becky Clark, CEO of NetDespatch.
The Mail & Express Delivery Show will take place this year at the Novotel London West on 1-2 July, uniting all sides of the mail, parcel and express delivery industries and specifically focusing on the customers/end users.
