Network Warrington specifies Stertil Koni heavy duty lift

Following a successful demonstration, vehicle lifting specialist Stertil Koni has supplied and installed a heavy duty ST4175 4-post lift at Network Warrington’s main depot.

Network Warrington’s fleet of over 100 vehicles, which includes single and double deckers, six hybrid buses and a selection of vintage buses, operates within the Warrington area. Almost nine million passengers are carried each year within the town and to many local destinations including Leigh, Altrincham, Northwich and Newton-Le-Willows.

The company was keen to replace an existing bus ramp that had been used in the Warrington workshop for many years and began the search for a replacement. During this process, Stertil Koni offered a demonstration of its heavy duty, 4-post lift, type ST4175, which enabled Network Warrington to evaluate fully the features and capabilities of the lift. The demonstration was hugely successful and, as a result, a decision was made to purchase the 17.5 tonnes capacity lift.

Accessibility is one of the key features of the ST4175. The absence of cross beams means that workshop engineers have unrestricted access to the underside of raised vehicles when carrying out repair, maintenance and servicing tasks. Another important element of the lift’s design is its 8200mm long platform which provides a low drive-on height of just 240mm. This means that every vehicle in the Network Warrington fleet, including low floor buses, can be driven onto the lift safely and easily.

All movement of the ST4175 lift is controlled electronically. Precise operator control of the lift is achieved by using a well positioned control panel mounted on one of the lifting columns. The control panel also allows workshop engineers to programme a number of functions into the lift including vehicle width settings and a maximum lifting height. The 4-post lift also features a maintenance-free synthetic runner wheel system, which is self lubricating and is covered by a lifetime guarantee. Additionally, a range of accessories is available including jacking beams and LED lighting kits.

“The Stertil Koni heavy duty lift has really improved the efficiency of our workshop,” says Ian Parker, Engineering Manager for Network Warrington. “It’s easily controlled and the low drive-on height ensures that we can work on every bus in our fleet with no accessibility problems.”
