Leading UK logistics operator, PDS International, has announced the promotion of David McClelland to the position of commercial director.
The family run company is one of the country's leading third party logistics providers and operates from two sites in the north west of England offering a countrywide service.
Mr McClelland, who lives in Warrington, joined the company in 2000 and has worked his way up, learning every aspect of the business his father John established in 1985.
With a background working for a number of high profile companies in the public and private sector including the BBC and UCI Cinemas, he has a solid background in developing and implementing IT tools for business. Currently he is undertaking advanced qualifications with the Institute of Directors with the aim of achieving chartered status in future.
In his new role, Mr McClelland's primary aim is to ensure the effective day to day operation of PDS and support client relationships through development of business systems and partnerships.
As well as logistics, distribution and warehousing services – with capacity of around half a million square feet at its two sites – PDS is renowned for its value added services including; returns, reworks, customer service, fulfilment and marketing support.
The company handles a wide range of products including personal care, electrical, kitchen appliances, haircare, DIY, flooring and healthcare and its weekly “ship to” list includes Argos, Boots, Makro, Costco, Dixons, Woolworths, Superdrug, Boots, Amazon, Matalan, John Lewis, TK Maxx, Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons – amongst others. The company also delivers to smaller local independent retailers. One major client sets a challenging accuracy target of 99.85 percent – which PDS consistently exceeds.
