Gü Desserts, part of the Noble Foods Group, has awarded a long term contract for chilled warehousing and distribution activities across the UK to Culina Logistics, the market-leading provider of shared user logistics services for food and drink companies. As a previous customer, Gü Desserts is welcomed back into Culina Logistics' portfolio of long-standing blue-chip branded manufacturers.
Culina was successful in regaining the Gü Desserts business after proposing an innovative collaborative solution. This operates between the Gü facility at Walthamstow and the Culina distribution centre at Haverhill and includes an efficient picking and product coding process. These operations provide maximum flexibility until the latest possible point in the supply chain process and therefore ensures the most cost effective solution whilst maintaining the highest service levels.
"Culina was able to demonstrate the various positive opportunities available in the re-design of the previous operation during the tender," says Simon Grant, Supply Chain Manager at Gü Desserts. "Culina also carried out the implementation in a professional and knowledgeable manner, transferring to the new ways of working whilst ensuring there was no impact on service levels to our customers. Our quality products require a quality, yet flexible, supply chain solution and we believe this partnership will ensure we are able to concentrate on our own strategy for growth."
Gü Desserts and Culina have similar stated growth strategies, are aligned in their philosophies and are already working collaboratively on other creative initiatives to ensure an efficient robust supply chain is created for the long term.
