Avery Weigh-Tronix has launched an onboard forklift truck scale which it claims can help organisations in the logistics industry increase weekly profitability by £000s by accurately and quickly validating the weight of a customer's load.
Typically, a customer estimates the weight of goods to be carried and is charged accordingly. If an operator chooses to check this weight, the truck must visit a floor scale, unload and then weigh the pallet before lifting it again. This operation is too inefficient and is rarely carried out.
The Avery Weigh-Tronix system transforms lift trucks into mobile scales that deliver trade approved weight verification of each pallet as it is picked up – so an organisation can now lift, weigh, move and invoice loads within its existing process.
The system can guide the driver through the loading process, to ensure safe weight distribution of pallets onto trailers or warehouse shelving. A correctly loaded trailer is unlikely to topple over, avoiding fines and the expense of incident cleanups and damaged stock. Printed proof of due diligence proves that the vehicle is fit to travel in the event of a roadside spot check.
Figures from the USA, where the Avery Weigh-Tronix Forklift Truck Scale is already successfully used, suggests that underloading of up to 25 – 30% is a common problem leading to a further loss of revenue for the industry. The forklift truck scale can help operators to load trailers to their maximum capacity. This increases the profitability of each delivery and, at a time of rising fuel costs, reduces the number of journeys needed.
The Avery Weigh-Tronix scale is designed specifically for harsh operating environments and is claimed to be the most durable system available.
New Forklift Truck Scale Provides Fast and Flexible
Weighing Solution to Increase Profitability …. 2
Its patented Weigh Bar® weight sensors and out-of-level compensation deliver accurate readings even when fork positions change, when wheels are on uneven surfaces or if the mast is tilted.
The heavy duty carriage comes in a range of widths to fit any ITA class II and class III cleat type forklift truck and can be fitted with one of two types of indicator to suit the application.
The general purpose WI-125 indicator is EU trade approved, requires minimal space and is simple to operate with easy to read large digits on a backlit LCD display. An RS 232 port allows this information to be printed for documentation and proof of weight.
An advanced option, the SimulCast WI-130 indicator is available for more sophisticated data management. It provides companies with a simple and efficient solution for capturing, integrating and managing weight data within their own management systems.
