New handheld scanner from Leuze

A challenge when collecting data within a site is that it might come in many different forms. Typically barcodes are seen within the same location as RFID technology, in fact the ability to handle barcodes is often a challenge faced when implementing RFID systems.

Rather than needing two devices to collect this data and the system programming to manage the integration of data from two devices, Leuze electronic solves this real-World problem with one handheld device. The unit can not only read barcodes and RFID tags, but also translate by reading a barcode and then programming this code to an RFID tag.

Leuze electronic’s HFM 3500D hand scanner provides both barcode scanning using red laser light and RFID tag reading and programming (13.56MHz according to ISO 15693) – fewer devices to carry, less equipment to install, less system integration. Therefore the unit can scan a barcode and then transmit it to an RFID tag, providing a translation across systems, for example at a goods inwards station.

Ease of use is ensured by the display of scanned codes on the unit, which provides easy quality assurance when checking codes. The unit can also be programmed via the ergonomic keypad and clear bright display. Extra information can be programmed into an RFID tag by inputting it through the keypad.
