New Security Shredding Manager for Smurfit Kappa Recycling

Paper recycler Smurfit Kappa Recycling has appointed Lucy Russell as its new Security Shredding Manager, handling the growing confidential waste service it provides to financial institutions, government departments, pharmaceutical companies and commercial organisations across the UK.

Lucy brings a combined knowledge of the paper and packaging sector as well

as the security industry, and has many years' experience in customer-facing

roles, working with both Blue Chip companies and the public sector. Before

joining Smurfit Kappa Security Shredding, Lucy worked in the sales and

finance departments of Mondi Packaging Diss, a corrugated box plant in

Norfolk, which was acquired by the Smurfit Kappa Group in May 2010. Prior to

that, she was sales administration manager for Permadoor, and operations and

personnel manager for fire and security company, Advance Peripheral Systems

Ltd.

Accredited to the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and the

United Kingdom Security Shredding Association (UKSSA), Smurfit Kappa

Security Shredding offers a compliant and confidential service to destroy

unwanted files and documents and recycle them securely. All shredded paper

is recycled in the UK and used to manufacture tissue. The company can also

securely dispose of other sensitive items such as uniforms, security passes,

CDs and magnetic media. From the provision of lockable office bins and

security bags to collections by security vehicles and onsite CCTV, Smurfit

Kappa Security Shredding provides an unbroken chain of custody and

certificates of destruction in line with the Data Protection Act.

"Any company which has not taken responsible steps to destroy such material

securely is putting itself at risk of fraud and could face a heavy fine.

The consequences could cause significant embarrassment and damage to a

company's reputation," explains Lucy who is offering free compliance audits

throughout 2011.
