Marden Edwards has responded to demand from its customers for a fully flexible, reliable, adjustable tooling system with the introduction of its new SEMI-AUTO over wrapping machine.
Making its debut at Beauty World Middle East (Dubai Convention Centre June 1-3 2010), the new wrapper offers a large pack capacity, from 40x40x25mm up to 300x200x100mm. Size changes, without any need for change part tooling, take less than 10 minutes, and outputs of up to 10 wraps/minute can be achieved.
SEMI-AUTO is targeted at companies which have a wide variety of pack sizes and carton shapes. It is ideal for small batch runs and a high frequency of change over, common in the cosmetics and confectionery industries. However, it is suitable for almost any application where an automatic machine is not required.
Fitment of a film slitter offers the user a simple way to manage film supplies; just by stocking the largest width, and using the twin knife blades to trim the film to the correct width for each carton, the film stock inventory can be greatly simplified.
The wrapper can operate with any reel fed OPP film and uses an external side loading film reel. An inverter drive handles the film length requirement and can be digitally adjusted to assist in rapid change over and set up.
The operator foot pedal begins the wrapping cycle. Film is driven to the correct length and the guillotine action, which is based on the company's extensive automatic over-wrapper range, cuts the film. The lateral seal is made manually by the operator, who then deposits the pack into the folding deck, where the Individual Pack Transportation indexes the product through the tucking and folding process.
Solenoid operated end sealers, which can be profiled to suit individual pack sizes, seal the end tuck and fold. A cosmetic quality spot or bar end seal profile can be added. The addition of flocking to all pack contact parts keeps the fresh and clean appearance of customers' products. An optional tear tape applicator allows customers to add easy open capability to each over wrap.
SEMI-AUTO only requires a single phase electrical connection, no compressed air is used and the machine comes fully guarded to the latest CE safety regulations.
