New team set to reinforce City Link’s customer centric offering

City Link has now completed the restructuring of its Executive Board with three key appointments each bringing an exciting blend of skills and experience to help further reinforce City Link’s market position as a premium express parcels carrier.

Liam Tucker, Operations Director, David Biggs, Sales & Marketing Director and Nick Capell, Chief Information Officer will join existing board members Rob Peto (CFO), Scott Maynard (HR), James Coxon (Strategy) with the principle objective of further developing both the business and its offering and more importantly building on CEO’s David Smith’s mantra that customers must come first.

It is an ethos which has dominated the past year during which time City Link has made significant strides in terms of investment – internally and externally, whilst at the same time introducing a number of customer service enhancements.

Indeed it has been a year in which City Link has further strengthened its foundations which going forward will act as a springboard for growth whilst at the same time ensure that the company’s structure is sufficiently robust to cope with ever increasing market demand.

Operations Director Liam Tucker is set to join the business on the 22nd September and brings a wealth of experience of the parcels sector having previously worked as Operations Director of Hermes between 2006 and 2013 prior to which he was Logistics Director for Iceland Foods, Managing Director of Golden West, Logistics Director of Scottish Courage and Managing Director of Tradeteam.

Liam has an impressive track record of successful operational change combined with continuous delivery of improved costs, processes and service levels and will bring consistent, clear and compelling leadership to the Operations team and the wider business.

On the 13th October David Biggs will be joining City Link as Sales and Marketing Director and again has an enviable track record. Currently Sales and Marketing Director at Matthew Algie, David was previously Sales and Circulation Director for News International and has held senior roles with Pepsico, Tropicana and Camelot.

He has extensive experience of both B2C and B2B sales environments and has consistently delivered sustainable growth of profitable sales and market share in a range of markets through his dynamic and collaborative leadership style.

Already on board is Nick Capell who is City Link’s Chief Information Officer. Joining the business in June this year, Nick comes with a wealth of experience from previous roles in the parcels industry such as IT and Commercial Director.

This latest strategic move is the latest in a series of new developments which are designed to improve the business’s service and proposition to its customers. These include the launch of the ‘On Our Way’ service, an improved International offering, enhancements to customer reporting & parcel tracking coupled with major investments in all aspects of the company’s IT infrastructure and vehicle fleet and more recently in the automation of the company’s Coventry hub.

David Smith, City Link’s CEO commented: “The parcels market continues to be ever changing and it is vital that we are well placed to ensure that we are able to meet the increasing demands of both the market and the customer.

“It is for this reason why we have invested so heavily in our operations over the past 12 months and introduced a plethora of new product and customer service enhancements with more in the pipeline. It has been an exciting year and these developments coupled with our new Executive Board appointments will help to create a powerful force with a skill set that will both drive the business forward whilst at the same time ensuring that City Link continues to deliver exemplary levels of customer service.”
