CHEP wins seventh consecutive RoSPA gold award for health and safety best practice

CHEP, the leading FMCG and retail end-to-end supply chain specialist, has received a prestigious RoSPA award for the seventh year running in recognition of the health and safety practices across its service centres in the UK and Ireland. The organisation achieved gold accreditation in the internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK. CHEP will be presented with the award during a ceremony at ExCeL, London on June 18, 2019. The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. To achieve gold accreditation, CHEP needed to demonstrate its commitment to helping staff get home safely at the end of the working day. The organisation did this through their industry leading Zero Harm initiative, which was launched in 2005. The scheme commits to considering health, safety, the environment and human rights in all decisions concerning the development of projects, the selection of commercial partners and suppliers and the launch of new products or services. Commenting on the award, Hugh Kempton, Health and Safety Manager for Europe at CHEP, said: “We are committed to delivering health and safety best-practice across our business, so we are delighted to be recognised for our hard work. It is a testament to the energy and dynamism of our entire team that we have won RoSPA’s Gold award for the seventh year running. But the journey continues, and we will strive to keep setting the bar high in terms of industry best-practice.” Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, added: “The RoSPA Awards have become the key fixture in the health and safety calendar with new sponsors and new awards this year including the Leisure Safety Awards, the Safe@Work Safe@Home Award and the Inspiration Awards. Highly-respected, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, RoSPA award winners benefit from the wide-ranging rewards of improved sector reputation.”
