The launch of a favourable discount scheme applicable when replacing older Donaldson equipment with new is set to make capital investment an increasingly attractive proposition.
Existing owners of Donaldson equipment are being invited to take advantage of the new incentive that will dramatically reduce the cost of new equipment.
It will also result in major savings thanks to the enhanced efficiency and environmental compliance offered by the latest filtration technology.
Donaldson’s newly introduced swappage scheme will allow its current and previous UK end-customers to upgrade their older dust, fume and oil mist extraction equipment with the most efficient, state-of-the-art technology and solutions on the market, at an attractively lower price.
Just like the automotive scrappage schemes that have enabled motorists to comply with environmental regulations by purchasing brand-new low- or zero-emission vehicles at a more affordable price point, the scheme’s favourable discount structure will help to soften the blow of making necessary capital investments that can sometimes be postponed in today’s challenging market.
“The cost-of-living crisis can impact businesses just as much as individuals, so this is our latest way of giving something back, offering our loyal end-customers even greater support in these challenging times,” explains Leigh Dunning, Donaldson Senior Sales Operations Coordinator.
“Our relationship with customers continues for the entire lifecycle of their equipment. We’ve always got their back, helping them to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their employees, premises and the local environment.
"Now, these key discounts will not only reduce the burden of new equipment costs, but lead to huge improvements in efficiency and employee protection from day one.”
New for old policy
While the swappage scheme will obviously provide major upfront savings, the operational advantages offered by the latest solutions will result in additional welcome financial benefits.
Replacing older technology with modern, energy efficient equivalents featuring more-efficient motors, for example, provides energy savings and a speedier return on investment.
Enhanced manufacturing processes and materials have also resulted in machinery with a much longer working life.
The more recent addition of Industrial IoT technology to Donaldson equipment enables it to remain in peak condition for longer.
Among other benefits, these connectivity features help to ensure timely maintenance, with repairs scheduled on a proactive, rather than reactive, basis, while reducing the overall cost of long-term operation.
This technology would also lower the risk of failing to comply with the latest HSE guidance and legislation, such as the obligation to inspect dust filters on an annual basis.
In fact, these are areas where the largest financial savings may result, as it is estimated that 20-25% of extraction equipment in use in the UK may no longer be compliant.
Aside from outdated equipment potentially allowing damage to items on the production line, its use can lead to fines, HSE enforcement notices, and even the complete shutdown of an operation.
Environmental improvements – surrounding employee health and reduced atmospheric emissions in particular – are further benefits that often result from an updated installation.
Tack on a tax break
Customers can also take advantage of Donaldson’s offer in combination with recently introduced tax-relief measures that allow manufacturers to benefit from major savings on investments in plant and machinery.
With 100% capital allowances now permissible on qualifying investments until March 2026, the cost of the investment can then be fully deducted in one go – a super-deduction that enables corporation tax bills to be reduced by 25p for every £1 invested in qualifying plant and machinery.
“Both the Donaldson and U.K Government schemes apply right across Great Britain and Northern Ireland, so there are potentially thousands of end-customers who stand to benefit from huge financial savings,” concludes Leigh.
“It doesn’t matter how long ago the customer last engaged with us, whether their equipment was bought new or second-hand, or what the equipment is, we are rewarding loyalty by offering a truly money-saving proposition.
“We want to encourage all our valued customers to take advantage of these schemes while they can, ensuring their operation runs as efficiently and environmentally compliant as possible – but with the minimum outlay.
"We will support customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their equipment and will also be offering a service campaign as part of the scheme, which can be discussed with our team when they visit a site to carry out a survey of what can be improved.”
While Donaldson supports customers in an almost endless range of industry sectors, the swappage scheme is likely to be of particular interest for those involved in the food, aerospace, recycling, metal and aggregates markets.
